Idit Shalev

Idit Shalev is an Assistant Professor of Psychology and the Director of the Embodiment and Self-Regulation Lab at Ariel University. She earned her Ph.D. in 2007 from the University of Haifa and completed postdoctoral training in experimental social psychology at the University of Maryland and Yale University, as well as clinical psychology residency at the University of Florida. She is licensed in rehabilitation psychology and different types of psychological interventions.

Her resreach interests are focused on how individuals integrate physical, environmental, and motivational stimuli to generate meaning and to self-regulate their thoughts, emotions, and behavior. Likewise, she is interested in self-regulation deficits related with psychological conditions (e.g., psychosomatics, alexithymia). Her research combines an experimental approach, classic and contemporary associations research, and research of awareness of sensation techniques.

Rotem Vadislavsky

My name is Rotem Vadislavsky, I am 28 years old from Givat Shmu’el and did my first Psychology degree at the Open University of Israel. Nowadays I'm a student for a second degree at Ariel university at the program of Rehabilitation Psychology and doing my thesis project under the guidance of Dr. Idit Shalev.

My research deals with cognitive flexibility in Alexithymia. Cognitive flexibility is associated with the dimension of high-level processes in self-regulation in the context of the Motivated Cue Integration Theory. In addition, I am interested in somatic Disorder and body-mind relations.

Anat Slobodin

My name is Anat Slobodin, I'm 27 years old from Ariel. These days I'm a MA student at Ariel university, at the department of Occupational Organizational Psychology.

My thesis project is under the guidance of Dr. Idit Shalev, and it deals about understanding the relationship between the need for certainty and creativity through the Focusing technique. This topic is explored from the point of view of self-regulation and Theory of Motivated Cue-Integration in particular.

Danielle Halabi

My name is Danielle Halabi, I am 27 years old from Ashkelon and did my  B.A at Bar Ilan University. These days I'm a MA student at Ariel University at the program of Rehabilitation Psychology and doing my thesis project under the guidance of Dr. Idit Shalev. 

My thesis deals with the effect of the Focusing technique which includes awareness to sensation on the ability to regulate emotion under a situation of social exclusion.

Yahaly Ulmer

My name is Yahaly Ulmer, I'm 20 years old. These days, I'm a MA student at Ariel University, at the program of I/O Psychology, as a part of IDF's Atuda program, called Pee'r. Pee'r is a 4-year course for a MA in I/O Psychology.

My thesis project is under the guidance of Dr. Idit Shalev, and it deals with social rejection in relation to self criticism and motivation for change in the field of occupational searching. Moreover, it deals with cognitive flexibility as a moderator in the relationship between social rejection and motivation for change in occupational searching.

Efrat Markovitz

Hi, I'm Efrat Markovitz, 21, from Ma'ale Adumim. I am currently studying psychology, combined with sociology and anthropology at Ariel University.
My primary interests are in psychoanalysis and the study of the subconscious, along with its effects on our character, emotions and conduct.
Our lab focuses on the research of associations, feelings, and the impact one has on the other.
In addition, I am particularly interested in exploring the connection between psychology, creativity and artistry, which is something that has also been explored here in all its broad contexts.

Guy Brat

My name is Guy Brat, I am 24 years old from Yehud, I am a B.A student in psychology and economics at Ariel University. Currently I'm a research assistant in Dr. Idit Shalev's lab. My areas of interest are decision making, behavioral economics, social norms, heuristics and the use of intuition. I'm interested in how people consider their alternatives and make their decisions as well as how the influence of emotion impacts decision making.

Noa Mishaly

My name is Noa Mishaly, I am 23 years old from Givat Zeev, I am a B.A student in psychology and human resources at Ariel University supervised by Dr. Shalev and am a research assistant in her lab.

We are currently researching the embodied cognition and self regulation as well as the affects of conversion.

 My areas of interest are mind body connection, conversion, the psychological attributes of motivation and dealing with physical and mental trauma, Neuropsychological Rehabilitation, behavioral analysis, heuristics and the use of intuition.

Michael Vovshin

I’m Michael Vovshin, 19 years old from Haifa. I am a second-year psychology (combined with sociology and anthropology) student and a research assistant at Dr. Shalev’s lab. Currently I’m studying at Ariel university as a part of IDF’s Atuda program, called Pee’r. It’s a 4-year course towards a 2nd degree in I/O psychology. My areas of interest include personality types and their impact on one’s performance in different roles and positions, Motivation and its sources among different people, society and its influence on our decision making and also person’s narrative and the way in which it is told.

Ami Zuroff

Ami Zuroff,  aged 27, is currently studying his B.A in Psychology at Ariel University. He takes interest in several topics, such as the ramifications of mindfulness, self regulation, psychological development within new immigrants and army veterans, cognitive processes within marriage and more. He views the labs research as fundamental in understanding the human psyche at large.  

Yuval Birger

I am Yuval Birger, a 23-year-old from Modi'in, currently studying for a bachelor's degree in psychology at Ariel University, with additional studies in sociology and anthropology. My interest in psychology is driven by its profound insights into human behavior, cognition, and the complexity of thoughts, feelings, and actions. I am particularly fascinated by the impact of childhood experiences and environmental factors on adulthood and psychopathological phenomena. Additionally, I am intrigued by the areas of emotional regulation and psychosomatic, specifically the mind-body connection.
